Traces of Existencee 3-25, Dried Flower on Paper Casting, Dyed with Italian Green, 21×14.5×1.0cm, 2025
This work was created by combining dried chrysanthemums with unidentified wild plants using a hanji casting technique. Although such flowers are commonly seen in autumn, they hold special meaning as a gift received from a daughter and son-in-law on the day of completing a doctoral degree. Rather than emphasizing splendor, the piece embodies the modest beauty of wildflowers that quietly convey vitality through their presence.
During the process of blending with hanji, subtle tones of blue and brown emerged, harmonizing to breathe new life into the dried leaves and flowers. By incorporating these natural elements, the work captures traces of nature and the passage of time, visualizing the persistence of life discovered in everyday moments.
